Description
Discover the inspiration of Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, where picturesque architecture surrounded by the beautiful flow of a naturalist-style landscape takes you inside the story one of America’s most prominent automotive families. Offering a one-of-a-kind look into the private lives of Edsel Ford – the only son of Henry and Clara Ford – his wife Eleanor, and their children at their lakeside estate, a guided tour of their private sanctuary brings you into the same rooms they called home. The Fords’ carefully designed and curated home also reveals their deep love for art and design, from architecture and landscape to their impressive personal collection of art and antiques.

Ford House is conveniently located 12 miles north of downtown Detroit just off I-94 in southeast Michigan. Guided tours of the home are offered daily with flexible hours and evening tours available when booked in advance. Closed January through March. Plan 2-3 hours for a guided tour of the home and grounds and a visit to the museum shop.

Join us in 2020 to experience our brand new, state of the art Visitor Center with an expansive exhibit on the Ford family and the creation of the estate, as well as an expanded museum store! Lake view dining coming fall 2020.
