NOVICE
- I have little or no track experience (Drag racing, street racing, autocross, circle track etc. does not qualify)

- I would rather drive in this group at this time to improve my skills. Please note: you will be required to run at a pace appropriate for the Low Intermediate group.
- I am an experienced driver, however, I want to test my equipment at a reduced pace. Please note: you will be required to adhere to track etiquette appropriate for the Low Intermediate group.
INTERMEDIATE
- I have multiple track events.
- I understand and am able to drive the qualifying/racing line.
- I have good passing skills, understand and practice HPDE track etiquette.
- I generally don’t drive my car at 10/10ths.
- I maintain total awareness of my surroundings at all times.
ADVANCED
- I have a significant amount of track experience at various tracks.
- I have all of the qualifications mentioned in Novice, Low and High Intermediate groups.
- I have the ability to control my car at 10/10^th in all section of the track
- My lap times are consistent, and my driving is predictable
- I’m comfortable being on a track with advanced drivers
- My car is comfortable in an advanced environment.

Secure a seat behind the wheel of an AUTHENTIC Model T Ford, built between 1908 and 1927 — right out of the Museum’s fleet of vintage vehicles! Drive three miles within our historic campus while with an experienced and enthusiastic instructor. This is a memorable, hands-on experience that’s perfect for multi-generational family groups, couples, corporate team building, or anyone who wants to take a step back in time and learn how to drive, or get a refresher, in one of the 15 million “Tin Lizzies” built by the Ford Motor Company over 100 years ago.

Our expert instructors will teach:

Use of spark and throttle control levers
Coordination of hand and foot controls
Proper shifting techniques
Stopping the vehicle
Correct use of the Neutral / Brake lever
Reversing the vehicle
Starting basics

PLUS, all students will receive:

Historian-guided lessons on Henry Ford and how the Model T changed the world.
Souvenir Model T booklet – produced exclusively for the Gilmore Car Museum.

Memorial Day Observance

A Star Spangled Fourth of July: An America250 Event!

An America250 event! The historic island fort is decked out in patriotic finery with banners, flags and bunting. It is an 1880’s Independence Day, with 38-gun salutes honoring the states of the period and children’s games. Guests join the party and participate in games on the fort parade ground. Don’t miss out on this all 1880s Independence Day as we have catch and baseball available on the parade ground to go along with foot and relay races, a band, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, the raising of the colors, the national salute (38 rifle blasts for the 38 states of the 1880s!), a cannon salute, and much more! Music will start at 3:00 p.m. Games will be available on the parade ground beginning at 3:15 p.m. The reading of the Declaration of Independence, raising of colors, toast, and national salute will begin around 4:15 p.m. The Tea Room Restaurant, operated by Grand Hotel, is open all day serving snacks, sweets, and beverages, and will have full lunch service from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All special programming is included with regular admission to Fort Mackinac. #thisismackinac

It’s ‘A Colonial Christmas’ at Colonial Michilimackinac, where the traditions of the 17^th and 18^th century are alive for all to explore. Lanterns light the path in Michilimackinac where storytellers recount the various traditions of historic residents, a retelling of the first Christmas at Mackinac in 1679, and the church at Ste. Anne’s prepared for Christmas Mass as it would have been in the 18^th century. Create crafts to take home and bring the family out on the Parade Ground for historic games. Wednesday Night Cruise-Ins

Wednesday Night Cruise-In Presented by DeNooyer Chevrolet and your West Michigan Chevrolet Dealers at the Gilmore Car Museum have become an annual summer tradition, and this marks the 26th Anniversary! Explore our air-conditioned main exhibit. For $5 per guest. This includes the bonus of access to additional restrooms inside the museum. Simply stop by the gift shop or Pedal Car Cafe to purchase your wristband. Members, with a membership card, receive access to the exhibit at no additional charge. It is FREE to bring your show car on the grounds during Cruise-In, and the event is open to the public. On good weather nights, the fun starts at 5 pm and runs until 8 pm, with both George & Sally’s authentic 1941 Blue Moon Diner and The Grill serving hot dogs, hamburgers, and creamy old-fashioned custard throughout the evening. With live music providing the soundtrack, these are evenings you and your family won’t forget! So, plan to bring your ride, snap a photo in front of the 1930s Shell station, cruise our amazing grounds, and enjoy an evening of great wheels and memories. General: With the exception of the Pedal Car Cafe, main exhibit, Blue Moon Diner, the Grill, and the Gilmore Bar, all other Museum buildings are CLOSED during Cruise-Ins. If inclement weather is predicted, the Cruise-In will still take place, but the scheduled cruise time will be shortened to 7 pm. Type of Cars: Limited to show field cars only (classics, muscle, antique, special interest, hot rods, etc). Parking: Within the museum grounds, there will be designated areas for parking. Each lot will be filled on a “first here” basis – no reserved or special parking. Food Service:

The Grill will be open – serving hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips.
George & Sally’s Blue Moon Diner – serving regular diner menu items.
Pedal Car Cafe – serving select items and soda.

Come out to the Gilmore Car Museum for an event you won’t forget – the Annual Traditional Hot Rods, Customs, and Motorcycle Show! You won't find neon lights, billet wheels or modern megawatt stereos on these relics, just good old fashioned hot rods like they built them in the 1940s, ’50s and early ’60s. Vintage Motorcycle Weekend

A Gilmore Car Museum classic with thousands of motorcycles, from rare and iconic rides of the past 100 years, to the newest models driven by spectators, rumbling into Hickory Corners, MI. The Vintage Show will feature antique and vintage motorcycles, scooters, and customs, all 25 years and older. The show also includes a large “Bike Corral.” All daily riders welcome. Full of vintage motorcycles for sale as well as a huge cycle parts and memorabilia swap meet. If you would like to be entered into the Master Class, a premier category for bikes that represent the highest standards in authenticity, craftsmanship, and presentation. Eligible entries must have earned top awards at major shows, and must be restored to original or unrestored original. This class with consist of 15 bikes maximum, 35 years or older, photo required with registration. The Gilmore Car Museum is the proud home of the Model A Ford Museum, the world’s largest museum dedicated solely to the Model A! On Friday and Saturday, hop in your Model A and head out to the Gilmore Car Museum for the 12th annual Ford Model A Days. Celebrate the heritage of a trusty American car with friends and family. Special events and activities will be held throughout the day including a swap meet, live music, technical and fashion seminars, and more! Bring your Model A or come as a spectator, this show and swap meet will be sure to please as hundreds of Model As gather in Hickory Corners, Michigan on the Gilmore’s historic campus. It's back again - a fun fall gathering for the entire family! DeutscheMarques is hosting Oktoberfest at the Gilmore Car Museum!

Beer Hall: The Beer Hall is open from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
Costume Contest: There will be trophies for the best traditional-dressed gentleman, lady, child and family.
German Car Color Tour: Departs at 10:00am, preceded by a brief drivers meeting. Tours leave every 20 mins thereafter for each of the four registered groups. Participants should listen for the announcements on departures. Visit DeutscheMarques FB for more info and future updates on the tour.
Oktoberfest Market – Handmade Crafts, Antique & Swap Meet!

There will be German food, German beer and the ever popular DeutscheMarques Oom-Pah band. And – of course – your beautiful German cars. You're encouraged to dress the part as well! There will be trophies for the best traditional-dressed, child, couple, gentleman and lady. Fun for the entire family! SAULT STE. MARIE, MI — Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours and Sault Historic Sites are proud to invite Eastern Upper Peninsula residents to the 5th Annual Family Fun Day, taking place Sunday, May 31, 2026. For a suggested monetary donation of $15 or more at each participating site, Eastern U.P. residents with proper identification can enjoy a Famous Soo Locks Boat Tour, explore the Museum Ship Valley Camp, or take in the breathtaking views from the Tower of History.

Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours will operate three special Family Fun Day cruises at:

3:00 PM

Each departure has a maximum capacity of 150 guests, and seating is first come, first served. Museum Ship Valley Camp and the Tower of History will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Benefiting the “I AM THE STORM” Memorial Scholarship
